Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka is Belarusian born in Minsk. Sergey Sabalenka (d. 2019) is her hockey-playing father. Aryna Sabalenka was born in Minsk on 5 May 1998. In her career she has been awarded 12 WTA singles titles, including an Australian Open Grand Slam at the 2023 Australian Open. Doubles is her forte and she has also won Majors during her first major tournaments, the US Open (2019) and Australian Open (2021), both of which were together with Elise Mertens. With her fellow Belgian tennis player, she also took home her the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami in the year 2019, making an appearance in the Sunshine Double. The feat was achieved by four couples competing in the women's doubles. World singles rankings rose up to the top spot on January 20, 2023. In doubles, she moved up to number one following her win in Melbourne that same year. Dmitry Tursunov was her coach in 2018 until the end of her season in 2019. She also worked with him for a brief period before the year 2020 began. She also briefly teamed up with Dieter Kindlmann from August to September of 2020. Since the end of 2020 she's been coaching by her countryman Antonio Dubrov. Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova were her heroes.
